We love rolling up our sleeves for a good cause, especially when our efforts make a real difference to the community. We have a spirit of giving, and that’s how The Altus Gives program came about. Altus Gives fosters staff to get actively involved in a purpose, something beyond a donation of money. We give from the heart and the head, because it has that extra something.
We’ve supported community organisations, events, causes, sponsorships, donations, volunteered, given our time on committees, boards or special projects, gotten involved in local sporting organisations so we can contribute to positively changing lives.
We give time, money, and effort, because we know that this trifecta of giving has the power of transforming lives. Not only for those receiving, but for for our employees as well. We’ve seen from this program that we have created a culture of self-aware professionals who never hesitate to give back, has empowered our staff to connect and develop relationships within the team and beyond, and contributed to a vibrant, and positive workplace.
The charities we choose to support are meaningful to us, we care about the cause and feel we can have significant impact from our involvement. This is important to us because we want to ensure our efforts have impact and effectiveness.
For the fifth year running, we hosted our annual bake-off where our Altus bakers make a delicious dish, all in the name of supporting a selected charity. Recently, we supported Mercy Ships and Diabetes Australia raising funds for these purpose.
Altus Gives supported Orange Sky Laundry, the world’s first free mobile laundry service for the homeless. The program connects volunteers and people in need, who take time to engage in genuine conversation while their washing is done for them, enabling the homeless to regain self respect.
We helped the littlies by sponsoring Manly Allambie United FC. Our sponsorship gave them access to sports equipment, but also encouraged a healthy and active lifestyle.
The Altus Team volunteered in the Awayside Days program, where they spent a day in Kings Cross learning about life on the streets and lent a helping hand by cooking and serving a lovingly-prepared community lunch. It was an awesome and eye opening experience, and probably the biggest lesson we took away was how without a support network around you, things can go very badly very quickly. ⠀
The Altus Team had a great time supporting the team at OzHarvest’s Cooking for a Cause. It was a hands-on cooking class that was led by OzHarvest chefs. We were busy turning rescued food into restaurant-quality meals for 144 people that are then delivered directly to disadvantaged communities, all made completely from rescued food.⠀
At our annual trivia night, we raised funds for Assistance Dogs Australia and Beyond Blue, whilst getting into the trivia spirit by dressing up in an 80’s tribute theme.
The Altus Team also got involved in donating blood for the Red Cross as one third of blood donations help treat people with cancer and donation can save 3 lives.
“We take great pride in supporting our community and we're committed to making a positive difference across Australia. We're truly excited about giving back to those that need it most!”
